Treading the boards…
I have always been a creative individual and I channel this in most avenues of my life. Aside from the obvious (my artistic interests) theatre plays an enormous role - pardon the pun.
I grew up loving theatre but it wasn’t until I was preparing to leave school that I discovered performing. In the midst of using my artistic abilities to paint set, I accidentally found myself signed up to sing a solo in a charity concert (my parents were just as surprised as they had never heard me sing). Never the less, I had caught the bug and it’s been quite a journey ever since.
While studying, I joined Aberdeen Student Show, leading me to perform in their annual production at His Majesty’s Theatre. The doric extravaganza raises incredible amounts for charity each year and I have continued supporting them in a design capacity throughout my career. I also have a long standing membership with Peterhead Pantomime Group and Lyric Musical Society and I am very delighted to be involved with both of these organisations.
Charitable work (and community spirit as a whole) is something of great importance to me and I have successfully merged this with my love of live theatre. Alongside my friend, we set up Centre Stage Productions and each year we perform an evening of entertainment featuring singers from throughout the North East. To date we have raised in excess of £20,000 for fantastic local charities and causes.
The arts as a whole is not just a hobby but truly part of my life. It has allowed me to have some of the most incredible experiences and also shaped me into the person I am today. I am a confident, outgoing indvidual with a huge passion for helping people and I am always glad that the shy young boy who loved to paint, accidentally found his voice.
