#PantoFest
I have been involved with Peterhead Pantomime Group for 15 years and this year the group, made up entirely of volunteers, was due to celebrate its 40th anniversary - an incredible achievement for any organisation.
Well the obvious happened and unfortunately the show was inevitably cancelled. However, the production is such a staple in our local community that we were determined if the town can’t come to panto, we would bring panto to them.
The idea for #PantoFest was born - a 10 day online festival celebrating all things pantomime. I was a member of the creative team and we worked tirelessly in order to make the festival possible. From new songs, sketches, live interactive events and competitions, we created a host of content to be streamed via our Facebook page and this was received with great success. Looking at the insights into our festival, the numbers achieved are testament to not only the need for some much needed entertainment in the current climate, but the level of work that has gone into this.
Social media is such a powerful tool, for businesses and communities alike. It is about connecting with people, and personally I am extremely proud to have played a part in making this possible.
